This book is adorable! A little girl doesn’t want to go to sleep, but her parents calmly walk her through her bedtime routine anyway, reassuring her that she doesn’t have to go to sleep. She puts on her night-sky pajamas, washes her face and brushes her teeth, then climbs into bed. She stretches her toes, lies “still like an otter floating in a stream” and asks her parents, “Does everything in the world goes to sleep?” So they tell her about the “dog asleep on the couch where it’s not supposed to be”, and about the “snail asleep, curled up like a cinnamon roll in its shell”, and about all the other animals sleeping. They leave her, still reassuring her that she doesn’t have to sleep, inspired by the cozy images in her head to find her way to sleep herself. A great nursery gift or bedtime book! Winner of the 2013 Randolph Caldecott Honor Award. Recommended for ages 0-5.
