Minli lives in the Valley of Fruitless Mountain, where she works hard toiling in the fields with her family. At night, Minli lies awake in her ramshackle hut listening to her father’s tales of The Old Man of the Moon who knows the answers to all of life’s questions. This leads Minli to an idea: to find the Old Man of the Moon and ask him how to change her family’s fortune. She sets out on a quest which leads her to meet many magical characters, including a dragon who accompanies her along the way! A Newbery Honor Book, this book makes a great read-aloud and includes many beautiful, full-color illustrations by the author. Ages 7+
